Department of Criminal Law
Formation of Department of Criminal Law coincides in time with the formation and opening of Law Faculty. During all the years of the department scientific researcheshave focused on two issues: study on the effectiveness of the criminal law issues and combating juvenile delinquency.
In the late 80's and early 90's Department was actively and directly involved in the development and adoption of the Criminal and the Criminal Execution Codes in Russia.
The department works closely with law enforcement authorities (including judicial, penitentiary), human rights organizations.
The department regularly prepares an opinion on specific criminal cases at the request of police of the Irkutsk region, East-Siberian operative customs and regional office of the Federal Security Service in Irkutsk Region, Irkutsk Region Chamber of Advocates.
