Аннотация. Дается описание вопросы жизненного, творческого и научного пути одного из самых известных сибирских ученых-криминалистов,
доктора наук, профессора Владимира Ивановича Шиканова. Приведены основные жизненные вехи В. И. Шиканова, а также научные работы,
принесшие ему известность. Отмечен его неоценимый вклад в развитие криминалистики, во многом определивший некоторые ее направления
развития. Рассмотрены области его научных исследований – проблемы теории криминалистики, а также различные аспекты криминалистической
тактики. Подчеркнут его вклад в подготовку многих известных ученых-криминалистов, работающих сегодня не только
в г. Иркутске, но и в других городах (Москве, Улан-Удэ и др.).

Abstract. The origin of the scientific concept of criminalistic, its development and improvement cannot be considered without the contribution
of Irkutsk forensic scientists. One of these scientists is considered to be Vladimir Ivanovich Shikanov, who made an invaluable contribution
to the development of criminalistic, largely defining some of its development. The article deals with the issues of life, creative and scientific
way of one of the most famous Siberian forensic scientists Vladimir Ivanovich Shikanov, who is largely the founder of the Irkutsk school
of criminalistics. Like many of his peers, Vladimir Ivanovich passed the great Patriotic war (he was a sailor on the military-sanitary steamship
«Ural worker»), had military awards. After demobilization and training at the Leningrad law school, he worked as an investigator in the transport
Prosecutor’s office, and later as a judge. Having developed a thirst for science, he enrolled in correspondence postgraduate study of the
Leningrad state University, from which he graduated, having defended a thesis on «Comprehensive examination in the Soviet criminal process».
Later they were protected and doctoral thesis. Having passed a way from the simple sailor during the great Patriotic war to the doctor of Sciences,
Professor V. I. Shikanov left a noticeable trace in criminalistics. Areas of his research were the problems of the theory of criminalistics, as well
as various aspects of forensic tactics. For a long time, working and leading first the Department of judicial law of the faculty of law of ISU,
and later on the Department of criminal procedure and criminalistics of the Baikal state University of Economics and law V. I. Shikanov
has trained many well-known forensic scientists working today not only in Irkutsk but also in other cities (Moscow, Ulan-Ude, etc.).
The article presents the main life milestones of V. I. Shikanov, as well as the main scientific works that brought him fame.
